For more than 15 years Northwest Academy has met the educational and therapeutic needs of kids with Special Education eligibilities in an encouraging and supportive environment designed to foster confidence, independence, maturity, and mental health. Most of our students are referred to us by their home school districts after careful consideration of each student’s individual needs. The educational and therapeutic programming set for each individual student enrolled at Northwest Academy is planned and put into place by a team that includes all appropriate professionals and the student’s family or guardians at an IEP meeting. The emphasis of our programming is to balance each student’s education and social-emotional needs in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Our students come to school year around, that is they attend school all twelve months. Breaks occur at the time of traditional holidays and between semesters. School hours are generally from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm for the Fall and Spring semesters and from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm during the Summer semester. Transportation is provided by the students’ home school districts.

Our students enjoy coming to school at Northwest Academy. They develop trusting relationships with our staff and are able to experience most of the activities associated with grade school and high school in a smaller and more supportive setting than those in which they may not have experienced success in the past. Parents and professional staff communicate as often as needed by phone, email, and in person. Our professional and para-professional staff are well trained, licensed, and dedicated to the growth and well-being of kids and teenagers. We like kids and we take pride in their accomplishments.

We would welcome a phone call, email, or visit to either of our schools so that we could answer any and all questions about the program that you might have and so that we could show you around our facilities and introduce you to our students and staff.
